Hi, I’m Chris.
A bioinformatician around the world, but often in London. I build reproducible pipelines for genomics, and use them to understand evolution, from splicing in embryos to castes in wasps.

I build reproducible, scalable pipelines for evolutionary and developmental genomics: Nextflow and nf-core workflows for RNA-Seq, genomic and proteomic data, built so that other people can re-run them.
My route into bioinformatics went through natural history. I did an MRes in biosystematics at Imperial College London and the Natural History Museum, then worked on the brains of paper wasps at the University of Bristol. Next came Barcelona: an MSc at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a PhD on alternative splicing at the Centre for Genomic Regulation, funded by a “la Caixa” fellowship.
Back in London I spent several years at UCL on the genomics of wasp castes, with a summer writing pipelines at Seqera Labs, the company behind Nextflow. Most recently I built and ledEco-Flow, a BBSRC-funded community developing open-source pipelines to close “the omics gap in ecology”.
Away from the keyboard you’ll usually find me outdoors, looking for wasps or somewhere new to explore.
